Kane Munday - Norwich City Football Club - Assistant Head of Grounds
Kane Munday is the Assistant Head of Grounds at Norwich City Football Club, where he plays a pivotal role in maintaining and enhancing the quality of playing surfaces at both Carrow Road and the club’s training facilities. Beginning his career in turf contracting at the age of 16, Kane quickly developed a passion for grounds management and gained experience across golf, education, and elite sport, including involvement in the 2019 Cricket World Cup at Glamorgan. He also contributed to grassroots and semi-professional football through Parkers Pitches, which helped shape his understanding of the importance of adaptability, innovation, and collaboration in groundsmanship.
Throughout his career, Kane has focused not only on improving surfaces but also on developing people. At Norwich City, he leads recovery and maintenance strategies, introduces modern turfcare practices, and mentors younger staff to support their professional growth. He has challenged the status quo, transforming team culture and encouraging a high standard of work ethic and pride across the department. A notable achievement was preparing the pitch for an England Women’s international match despite a compressed schedule caused by a concert and graduation event, demonstrating his problem-solving abilities and resilience under pressure.
Kane has made significant contributions to both his club and the wider grounds management industry. He has introduced innovative techniques to improve turf quality, increased operational efficiency, and fostered a culture of learning and collaboration. His efforts have not only enhanced the presentation and performance of Norwich City’s surfaces but have also supported the professional development of his colleagues and inspired younger grounds staff to strive for excellence.
Looking to the future, Kane aims to progress into a Head of Grounds role at a Premier League club, continuing to raise standards at the highest level of the game. He is committed to developing the next generation of grounds professionals, sharing knowledge, and supporting grassroots initiatives through educational programs at the club’s Community Sports Foundation site. Passionate about his profession, Kane is dedicated to leading by example, championing innovation, and elevating the profile of grounds management as a rewarding, respected, and forward-looking career.
Kane came to Norwich City Football Club with a wealth of experience and knowledge. Working closely with him, I’ve seen how he has turned his attention to creating top-level surfaces for first-team matches at Carrow Road - surfaces to be proud of. He now has his eyes firmly fixed on the Lotus Training Centre in his new role as Assistant Head of Grounds, where he is determined to achieve the same high standards he delivered at the stadium."
