Bradley Tennant

Bradley Tennant - International Greenkeepers - Director

Bradley Tennant is a passionate advocate for the future of the sports turf industry, focused on making it more accessible, inclusive, and inspiring for the next generation. His work centres on education, volunteer opportunities, and career development, ensuring that people of all ages and backgrounds can discover pathways into the profession both in the UK and overseas. Over the past year, Bradley has developed volunteer programmes across Europe, built international connections, and supported individuals worldwide to start or progress their careers in sports turf. From helping professionals in Japan move to the UK, to connecting people from Australia, the US, and Europe with new opportunities, his mission is to open doors and raise awareness of the industry’s global reach.

In the last year alone, Bradley has directly supported over 300 people to find work within sports turf, without charging any fees, by connecting individuals and clubs in need of skilled support. He also launched the Turf Passport, an innovative platform designed to match professionals with employers based on skills, availability, and visa status. This central hub is addressing a long-standing challenge in the industry, while creating meaningful opportunities for both workers and organisations. Alongside this, Bradley has hosted free educational days, supported colleges, and helped organise a landmark meeting with Wiltshire College and Leicester City to move towards standardising education in the sector.

Bradley’s achievements also include launching The Academy, a hands-on educational initiative supported by manufacturers, suppliers, and venues. The Academy has delivered free training to learners of all ages, giving them practical skills and confidence to pursue a career in turf care. Building these projects independently, without the backing of a large organisation, has been one of his biggest challenges. Yet through persistence, relationship-building, and a clear vision, he has secured support and created initiatives that are reshaping the industry’s talent pipeline.

Looking to the future, Bradley’s vision is to see a thriving, diverse workforce in sports turf, one where people feel supported, valued, and inspired to build lifelong careers. His goals include expanding education into more schools and colleges, developing formal qualifications and apprenticeships, and continuing to grow the Turf Passport globally. Sustainability is another key priority, with a focus on smarter technologies, integrated pest management, and long-term pitch care strategies. Ultimately, Bradley wants to ensure that sports turf is recognised as a respected, innovative, and sustainable industry that offers real careers for life.

As a Course Manager with 35 years of experience in this industry, every now and then you come across people in this industry who really make a difference. Bradley is one of those people. In a time when staff recruitment and retention is possibly at its lowest point there are few people trying to remedy this situation. When I need to recruit, the first name on my list to call is Brad, and in no time, I have CV’s in my mailbox. And such is his widespread contact list they are not just from the UK but from all over Europe. Each year The Caversham, host an education event run by Brad for Wiltshire College. The whole day is a delight to be part of. Bradley's focus on education and bringing new talent into the sports turf industry is possibly one of the few shining lights in this industry now, he really is one of the true unsung heroes!"
