News Story

The Grounds Management Association (GMA) is delighted to welcome acclaimed sports broadcaster Kelly Somers as host of the GMA Industry Awards 2026, taking place at Edgbaston Stadium on 12 March 2026.

Somers is one of the UK’s leading sports presenters and reporters, with a distinguished career across major broadcasters including the BBC, Premier League Productions, Channel 4 and Amazon Prime Video. She has become a familiar face to football fans through her work on flagship programmes such as Final Score, Football Focus and The Women’s Football Show, as well as reporting and hosting on Premier League and UEFA competitions.

Her understanding of the sporting landscape has made her a trusted voice in sports journalism, with a breadth of experience covering the biggest matches and events in the game.

On hosting the prestigious awards ceremony, Kelly Somers said: “To be hosting the GMA Industry Awards 2026 is a real privilege. Grounds staff play such a vital role in the success of sport at every level, yet so much of their work happens out of sight. To be able to celebrate what goes into creating the surfaces we all take for granted is incredibly special, and I’m really looking forward to being part of that recognition.”

The GMA Industry Awards, a prestigious ceremony that celebrates professional and volunteer grounds staff, returns this March to recognise excellence across a wide range of categories within the industry.

Taking place at Edgbaston Stadium on 12 March 2026, the awards are a standout occasion to shine a spotlight on the talent and impact of grounds teams up and down the country.

Sarah Cunningham, Director of Commercial, Membership and Events at the GMA, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Kelly Somers as the host for this year’s GMA Industry Awards. Her expertise within the sporting world will bring a wonderful flavour to the evening as we honour the incredible people who make sport possible behind the scenes.”

New for 2026, and taking place alongside the GMA Industry Awards, the GMA Conference will bring together industry leaders, experts and practitioners for a full programme of insightful keynote sessions and practical workshops, making it an unmissable opportunity for anyone working in the grounds management industry.
