This is an exciting opportunity for someone with experience in grounds maintenance who enjoys working outdoors and takes pride in maintaining high-quality sports and estate grounds. You will be working as a member of our Grounds and Gardens team, which forms part of the wider Property Services team at a prestigious boarding school based in the centre of Cheltenham.
Reporting to the Head of Grounds and Gardens and working as part of a dedicated team, you will be responsible for the maintenance, presentation, development and overall care of the College’s extensive outdoor areas and playing surfaces. The College estate includes 15 boarding houses with their own gardens, two sports fields, a cricket square, 18 hard courts, two astro pitches, the main College site and the Performing Arts Centre.
Key responsibilities would include, but are not limited to:
- Sports pitch and astro maintenance before, during and after matches;
- Development and preparation of the cricket square;
- Line marking;
- Set up and maintenance of sports equipment;
- Hedge cutting and tidying;
- Path and estate maintenance;
- Drain clearance around sports grounds;
- Leaf collection, snow clearing and salting of pathways during adverse weather conditions;
- Supporting the College lawn development plan;
- Ensuring grounds remain safe and maintained to the highest standards;

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week average), working on a 3-week rota pattern which, during term time only, includes evenings and weekends.
