Witham Hall School is a happy and dynamic co-educational boarding and day Prep school, set within superb grounds on the Lincolnshire/Rutland border. The School is seeking a committed and motivated Head of Grounds and Gardens to be responsible for the maintenance of the School’s top-level grounds, sports facilities and gardens, including maintenance and preparation of natural and artificial playing surfaces, outdoor learning areas, grounds, lawns, boundaries and hedges.

Scope & General Purpose: To be responsible for the maintenance of top-level boarding school grounds, sports facilities and gardens.
Responsible to: Bursar
Responsible for: Deputy Head of Grounds and Gardens
Hours of work: A full time (100%) role. Average of 40 hours per week (averaged over the year), with seasonal peaks and troughs. Scheduled rota weekend work as part of a wider team to cover matches and events. (When this happens, equivalent weekdays given off in lieu).

There are around 230 pupils in the School from age 4 to 13. This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading school committed to a holistic curriculum and the highest standards of teaching, learning and pastoral care.

The School is seeking a committed and motivated Head of Grounds and Gardens to be responsible for the maintenance of the School’s top-level grounds, sports facilities and gardens, including maintenance and preparation of natural and artificial playing surfaces, outdoor learning areas, grounds, lawns, boundaries and hedges.

The post is a resident position, acting as part of the School’s wider team of on-site staff, contributing to a rota of lock-up duties, stewarding at events, responding to unplanned circumstances (e.g. snow) and other emergency events. A School cottage is available for this purpose.

The successful candidate will have experience of working in grounds and specific sports facilities, with a keen eye for high standards, excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to meet the physical requirements of the role. With good knowledge of mechanical maintenance and repairs, the ability to work under your own initiative and a flexible approach to the role, having relevant qualifications would be desirable.
