Following a series of international grounds care shows at the start of 2023, the Grounds Management Association (GMA) will be attending the International Turfgrass Congress in Toledo, Spain for the first time.
Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Webb, will join fellow industry experts on a roundtable discussion during the three-day congress, which runs from 19 – 21 April and is themed around Sustainability and Technology.
Professionals, technical experts and organisations from all across the globe will gather to attend the event which features more than 18 conferences covering important developments in the world of sports turf and the maintenance of parks and green spaces, as well as a grounds care machinery exhibition and gala dinner.
GMA attendance of the congress will mark the third show that the GMA has attended in 2023 in three different countries. In January, the GMA traveled state-side to Salt Lake City, USA for the Sports Field Management Association’s annual conference for four days of industry education, networking events and product demonstrations.
Shortly after, the GMA attended industry colleagues, the British and International Golf Greenkeepers Association’s (BIGGA) BTME show in Harrogate. The return of BTME was marked by a significant milestone for the association, with record numbers of registrations reached ahead of the show, once again signaling a return of pre-pandemic confidence in the industry trade show market.
Commenting on industry trade shows bouncing back after the pandemic, Geoff Webb, GMA CEO says:
“The international grounds care industry has had a strong start to 2023 with successful events for our friends in the United States, the SFMA as well as our industry colleagues in the UK, BIGGA. Next up is the International Turfgrass Congress in Spain this April which I am greatly looking forward to attending for the first time.
“It’s crucial that we support organisations around the world who help make sport possible and to share knowledge and experience of how we operate in the UK. The UK really is the global leader in the grounds care sector, so it is important to make sure we collaborate with our partners around the world.
“The international grounds care community is becoming increasingly connected. We’ve seen this ourselves with attendees from over 50 countries at SALTEX in 2022, but also with the launch of the GMA’s first non-English language training course following demand from overseas for translation.
“There will be some excellent speakers at the International Turfgrass Congress, so I am also looking forward to learning a thing or two.”
The International Turfgrass Congress is taking place in Toledo, Spain from 19 – 21 April.
