Congratulations to GMA Fellow and Life Member Bob Corbin who celebrated his 100th birthday this month.
Bob is a founder member of the GMA and held the institute’s presidential post for 10 years. He has achieved a lifetime of success in groundscare and horticulture, with professional accolades that include: Associate of Honour, Royal Horticultural Society; Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Horticulture and Achievement Award;
Fellow of the Linnean Society and Associate member of the Institute of Park & Recreation Administration.
He started his career as a ‘garden boy’ in Hampshire at the age of 14, then expanded his experience as a gardener, international lecturer, photographer, journalist, broadcaster, writer and show judge. Notably he was responsible for planting two million trees throughout London after the bombing blitz of World War II and refurbished the Royal Parks in his role of horticultural manager at the Greater London Council.
