The role

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and entrepreneurial sales professional, in a not-for-profit industry association.

Reporting to the Events & Commercial Director, you will lead the sales of the Grounds Management Association (GMA) events, sponsorship and  products & services whilst developing new sales leads and commercial opportunities. In collaboration with other teams you will support the recruitment and retention of GMA Corporate Plus and Corporate memberships  utilising the GMA CRM system and SALTEX database for the development and planning of sales and after sales functions.

Having spent at least 5+ years' in sales with a proven track record of achieving (£m+) sales targets, you will be experienced in:

  • Sales of trade show stand space and sponsorships, membership and membership events and/or awards.
  • Excellent customer relationship management to cultivate, maintain, develop and retain GMA business relations.
  • Preparing and delivering sales presentations
  • Working with CRM systems and databases, utilising data, intelligence and insight to inform and develop sales opportunities.
  • Contract negotiation
  • Working as part of a team with colleagues and with external suppliers and stakeholders

The Team

This is an exciting time to help establish an in-house sales function which was previously outsourced., You will play a leading role in selling a range of products which currently includes: SALTEX, GMA Awards, Groundsweek, GMA webinars, corporate membership, GMA members event and GMA technical & learning events. Success in sales will not only improve the GMA finances, it will also result in more opportunities to invest back into grounds management as part of a wider investment plan to deliver the GMA’s Five-Year Strategy.

You will bring sales and engagement expertise and in collaboration with all other GMA departments, support the GMA products and services offering and engagement, that will provide a value proposition to deliver better outcomes for those who work in and with the grounds care industry.

Benefits

Circa £36,000 salary plus performance related bonus and sales commission, car allowance, pension, employee assistance programme, 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays and Christmas closure.

Flexible working, home based with attendance at Milton Keynes HQ and regular travel including overnight stays on business.
