Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club, Brighton
Grounds – Workshop Mechanic
Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club are proud to compete in the Premier League and play at home in our spectacular 30,000+ seater American Express Community Stadium. Premier League football is the most watched sports league worldwide, with an annual audience of over 1 billion people, in which we are thrilled for our men’s first team to professionally compete. We are equally excited and proud of our women’s first team who successfully compete in The FA Women’s Super League, the top tier of women’s football in England.
Are you solution minded with great attention to detail and a passion for agricultural engineering? Then come and play your part at the Albion! This is a fantastic opportunity to join our hardworking grounds maintenance team and support our workshop manager in the day to day management of the grounds team machinery and equipment.
What does the day to day look like?
This is a busy role! Your core hours will be 40 hours per week spread across five days to include some weekends, so we need you to be flexible. Your day to day duties will include all aspects of servicing, repairs and maintenance of the grounds department machinery and you’ll be required to carry out administration in relation to the work carried out to ensure records are kept up to date. The role will be varied to include carrying out work at our elite training ground, world-class stadium and other Club associated grounds and facilities. We need a team player as in busy periods you may be required to work alongside the grounds team to carry out pitch maintenance work!
What can you expect?
If you are looking for an easy ride, this one might not be for you! The work will be challenging, the environment will be fast paced, and we’ll have high expectations of you. But we will give you everything you need to succeed (except for drive, determination and motivation – which you’ll need to bring with you!) The Club will recognise and reward you for your hard efforts and support you to attend suitable training courses to keep your technical skills at the highest possible standard. We are known for our culture and values leading the way, and the right people will need to fit into that. You’ll work hard, but the great thing about football is that you’ll see the results.
What we need
Given the nature of this role, it is desirable for the successful candidate to hold the following qualifications:
- Agricultural engineering technician level 2 certification or equivalent
- N.P.T.C. PA1 certificate in pesticide usage or prepared to receive this training
- Certification in the use of industrial/rough terrain truck operation or prepared to receive this training
- Qualified first aider and/or have received training in other first aid techniques
The ideal candidate will be a member of the Institute of Groundsmanship, but don’t worry if you aren’t as the Club can support your membership! You will also need to be willing to undertake a basic DBS CRC (criminal background check) if successful.
