A Grounds Person is required to join our Grounds Team on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will have previous experience of working in a Grounds or Horticultural role to a high standard, and will be willing to undertake professional development to support them in their role. Tasks include preparation and maintenance of all sports surfaces including grass, hardstanding and artificial turf, line marking and general maintenance of the school campus. 

Essential Requirements:

  • Willingness to undertake training and development
  • Previous experience of undertaking Grounds or Horticultural tasks to a high standard
  • Good level of physical fitness, including the ability to lift, operate machinery and work outside
  • A working knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation
  • Good level of knowledge of marking, maintenance and upkeep of a variety of playing surfaces
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Organised and able to prioritise workload when required
  • Proactive
  • Excellent attention to detail and high quality of work
  • Able to work on own initiative and as part of a team
  • Willingness to work additional hours as required
  • Hard working, highly motivated and desire to improve the facilities

Desirable requirements:

  • NVQ3 or above in relevant subject (i.e. Sports Turf or Horticulture)
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Previous experience of working in an educational environment
  • Manual Handling Training
  • Prior experience of solving problems with different playing surfaces
